Garth Callaghan is coming to GWMS!!!
We are super excited that Garth Callaghan, author of Napkin Notes, is coming to GWMS on Thursday, February 18th! Garth Callaghan has been diagnosed with cancer four times in the past three years. Facing with his own mortality, Garth found his purpose: connect with his daughter Emma every day, even in small ways. When Garth’s daughter was in kindergarten, he started writing a brief note on the napkin he tucked in her lunch bag each day. Once diagnosed with cancer, Garth learned these notes play a much more significant role in his relationship with Emma than he ever imagined. Garth’s motto is quite simple: Pack – Write – Connect. Get inspired by Garth’s story and the power of human connection. If you want to order a copy of Napkin Notes to read before Garth's visit, stop by the LRC during Homebase or after school to pick up an order form. Completed forms and money should also be turned in to the LRC during Homebase or after school. Order forms are also available on the Washington website.
Students, as you well know, the Mock Convention is fast approaching! To help support the convention and celebrate being citizens of this great nation, we are asking students and staff to dress in red, white, and blue on that day. You heard right, on Friday, Jan. 29, please dress in your favorite patriotic attire. See you on the 29th in your patriotic gear!
Dubuque Pony League is now offering baseball for children age 4-18. Please come to the attendance/activites office to pick up a flyer for more details.

VPA CREW: Any students interested in working on a VPA crew for this year's production of "The Music Man" should plan to attend an informational meeting TODAY, Friday, January 15th from 2:30-3:15pm in the auditorium! We have lots of crew positions to fill from spotlight operators to painters to set builders to hair and make-up artists. There is something for everyone! If you can't make it to the meeting, no worries! Just pick up the crew form the next week from the VPA informational board located across from the auditorium! If you have any questions, contact Mr. Slade or Mrs. Schumacher.
