Don't forget that Friday is Spirit Day!  Wear your GWMS attire at home and at school to show your school pride! If you are an A day Hybrid student and dress up, email a picture of you celebrating school spirit to amozena@dbqschools.org!

  

Here is the LEAP news you need to know!   November 16 and 17, we are offering Holiday Crafts, which will include sign painting and making holiday decorations. Students will each make their own project to take home and display or give as a gift this upcoming holiday season 

 

Washington's Gay Straight Alliance group will meet on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning next week and is a judgement free group for all students to feel comfortable being themselves. In this group we will have open discussions, participate in a variety of activities, and get involved in the school community.  All are welcome! 

 

Also new to LEAP is the Polar Bear Running Club!  Polar Bear running club is a club that any student can join to have the opportunity to continue running and be active throughout the winter months. The purpose of our club is to build and maintain endurance, set goals, and have fun doing it! All running levels/paces welcome! Please dress for the weather and join us on Mondays and Tuesdays starting next week! 

You can sign up for these and many other fabulous LEAP programs on the board outside of the principal's office!  If you have any questions, see Ms. Hefel in the main office!

 Sign up for LEAP is happening right outside of the principal's office.  Here's some great stuff coming up! On November 10th and 11th, you can make a warm, cozy fleece tie blankets. Students will choose from the fabric provided to make a blank without any sewing required.

And don't forget to bust out your favorite headgear for Hat Day on Wednesday and Thursday of this week for School Spirit week!!  Remember that hats should not be a distraction from the learning environment and hoods do NOT count as hats!

The actors in the Dubuque Senior's One Act Play/Film Festival have been practicing for their performances this weekend! The seating is limited but there are still tickets available. Just visit www.dubuqueseniordrama.com for all the details!

 

 Next week is Wahawk Pride week and YOU can participate!!!!  It includes dress up days and a super fun tik tok challenge!  Next week on Monday and Tuesday, get comfy because it is pajama day!  Make sure it's school appropriate and no props-like blankets or stuffed animals!  Wednesday and Thursday, bust out your favorite headgear for Hat Day!  Remember that hats should not be a distraction from the learning environment and hoods do NOT count as hats!

If you are looking for certain kinds of books and are having trouble finding them in the online library catalog, let your librarians know because they can put them in a collection for you!  For example, let's say that you want to see all the graphic novels we have at Wash or all the books we have featuring cats, they can get those in a neat, tidy collection for you!  Just email Mrs. Hannan for more details!

LEAP Activities: There is bakeology every Wednesday and Thursday through March!  Students will be able to make yummy treats while making some fun do it yourself projects!

And if you're really into baking and cooking, then you can sign to join every Monday and Tuesday through December 12 to make some great recipes that are perfect for the teenage life!
