Extended Homebase Schedule 

Thank you to all students who auditioned for a part in this year's VPA production!  You put your whole heart into it and made casting extremely difficult for us!  The Company List will be posted at 2:30pm TODAY on the VPA board located across from the auditorium!  If you did not make it into the company, please consider signing up for a crew.  Crew sign-up information will be given out after the Winter Break!  The first Company Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 2nd. Questions?  Contact Mrs. Schumacher or Mrs. Schramm. 

Head to Creative Adverture Lab to climb the rock wall for LEAP next week on Tuesday!  There is still time to sign up outside of the Principal's office for this and many other LEAP adventures! 

MAP testing continues next week in the area of READING so make sure to get extra sleep on Sunday night and eat a good breakfast on Monday!

Good luck to our Wahawk athletes today!  The Cross Country Team will be running today at 4:15pm at Western Dubuque in Epworth and the 7th grade volleyball teams will also be at Western Dubuque competing at 4pm today while the 8th graders compete here at Wash at the same time!  Come out and show your school spirit by cheering on our teams!

Thought of the day:   Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.  The moment you're ready to quit is usually the moment right before a miracle happens.  Don't give up!

Wahawk volleyball players compete against Jefferson today at 4pm! The 8th graders are at Jefferson but the 7th graders are playing here.

VPA reminder!  Your last chance to audition to be in the cast for this year's production of "Seussical" is TODAY in the auditorium from 2:30-4:30pm!  All information necessary to audition is located on the VPA board across from the auditorium!  The cast list will be posted at 2:30pm on Friday, September 28th on the VPA board!  Questions?  Contact Mrs. Schumacher or Mrs. Schramm.

WTV update! The LRC is celebrating our freedom to read books just loaded with punctuation during Banned Books Week this week!  So come check it out and see what books have been challenged!

If you turned in an application for WTV, please check your school email for the WTV schedules!  If you turned in an application on time but did not receive a schedule, please see Mrs. Schumacher or Mrs. Mozena as soon as possible! Please report to Room 5 at 7:10am on the days you are scheduled to be on crew or anchor! Questions?  Contact Mrs. Schumacher or Mrs. Mozena.

Today is your last chances to audition to be in the cast of "Seussical".  Join us in the auditorium after school with your audition sheet filled out!  Make sure to have your blue commitment form filled out and turned in by Thursday afternoon to be considered for the cast!

Every year Wash students and staff collect box tops to help raise money for our school.  This year we will be using the money collected to purchase new books for the library!  So please help us out by bringing those items in and dropping them off in the LRC!  Now I just know we have at least one birthday today...who is it?

Math MAP testing is next week!

In VPA news, 6th graders will be auditioning today after school in the auditorium!  If you are still wanting to audition to be in the cast of "Seussical", you can still audition next week on Tuesday after school!  If none of these times work for you, please see Mrs. Schramm or Mrs. Schumacher!  

Now for the LEAP update!  Upcoming programs include Rock Climbing, Skull Diggery, and Harry Potter!  On Tuesday, October 2nd, the folks from the Creative Adventure Lab are taking you on a rock climbing field trip! Put on a climbing harness and attempt routes of varying difficulty on our two-story climbing wall. Whether you’re new to climbing or have some experience, you will be able to test your skills with several climbs over the course of the trip.  Sign up today!  

8th grade football players will be taking on Drexler tonight here at Washington!  The game starts at 4:15pm if you want to cheer on your fellow Wahawks!  =

Washington blue volleyball game today. 7th grade girls will play the Drexler team at Washington at 4pm. The 8th grade team will play at Drexler at 4pm as well. 

LEAP programs are filling up fast so sign up outside of the principal's office!  The most recent event added  is rock climbing at Creative Adventure Lab on October 2nd.

VPA: Auditions continue TODAY from 2:30-4:30pm in the auditorium

Students they are not allowed to trade IDs for any reason.  Students who are seen wearing or in possession of someone else's ID will have consequences.   

Picture retakes are tomorrow.

If you are going to be absent, please have your parent call the attendance office at 563-552-4811 BEFORE 8:00 a.m.  If you are going to be late or need to leave early, please have your parent send a note and bring the note to the attendance office upon arrival to school in the morning.  The attendance office will give you a pass to give to your teacher to leave at the designated time.  We encourage appointments to be made before or after school if possible.   

We expect students to demonstrate Wash Values on their travels to and from school. Please be sure that you are using the sidewalk, avoiding neighbors’ lawns, utilizing crosswalks, and talking in conversational voice.

Let's all cheer on the volleyball players today as they take on the Jefferson teams!  7th grade is here at Wash at 4pm and 8th grade is at Jefferson at 4pm.  It should be a fierce match up so come support your team! 

You can also watch our Cross Country team. They compete today as well at the Soccer Complex at 4:30pm! 

Our very own 7th grade football team as they dominate the field here at Washington at 4:15pm against Jefferson!  Get out there fans and cheer on your fellow teammates! 

Thought for the Day: Football is an honest game. It's true to life. It's a game about sharing. Football is a team game.  So is life.

VPA: Auditions for this year's production of "Seussical" will continue on Tuesday, September 18th in the auditorium from 2:30-4:30pm. 7th graders will audition tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 18th, and 6th graders on Thursday, Sept. 20th with an additional day on Tuesday, September 25th for anyone else who still needs to audition!  All information necessary to audition is located on the VPA board across from the auditorium!  Questions?  Contact Mrs. Schumacher or Mrs. Schramm. Make sure to have your lavender audition sheet turned in when you audition and your blue commitment form in by September 28! 
  
WTVIf you signed up for WTV and turned your form in by the deadline, schedules will be emailed out to your school emails by Thursday, September 20th!  Questions?  Contact Mrs. Schumacher or Mrs. Mozena. Hard copies of the anchor schedule and crew schedule will be available on the VPA board located across from the auditorium the same day!

Heading to the football game at Senior tonight? Don't forget the house rules!   
  • Maintain the same conduct standards as you do school. Failure to follow the rules at Dalzell will result in being asked to leave for the evening. 
  • At all games, students should sit/stand in the designated student sections. (At Dalzell, this is forward of the painted line in the stands). 
  • We recommend that all students in grades K-8 be accompanied by an adult.
  • Remember that no backpacks are allowed in Dalzell Field. 
  • All students will be asked to show an ID for admission and must wear that ID visible throughout the event.  
Enjoy the game! 

7th graders audition for VPA cast on Tuesday, September 18 after school in the auditorium. 6th grade auditions on Thursday, September 20.
